Absolutely the best robot vacuum for hardwood floors by far. I have had this robot vacuum for about a year now and it has never disappointed me. It has the quietest operation of any robot vacuum I have ever used and the suction is incredibly powerful. I have never had to use more than one floor brush on this robot vacuum and it still gets great cleaning results. The only downside to this robot vacuum is that it is a bit on the expensive side, but it is definitely worth the money. 1 by Robotic Vacuum Cleaners

Best Robot Vacuum For High-Pile Carpet: Yeedi Vac Station

yeedi vac station High-Pile Carpet Stairs Robot Bagless Cordless Anti-Allergy Filter (HEPA) The best robot vacuum for high-pile carpet that we’ve tested is the yeedi vac station. It is built well and features a self-emptying mechanism that moves any debris it has collected from its dustbin into an attached dirt container. This allows for a reduction in maintenance. It delivers great performance on high-pile carpets, where it easily cleans pet hair and most fine debris like baking soda, though it might take an extra pass to fully clean larger debris like sand.

It also supports a wide range of automation features apart from its self-emptying function. The companion app can be used to schedule specific cleaning sessions or set virtual boundary markers. Its surface-detection feature lets it change its suction mode depending upon the type of floor. Its battery performance is excellent. The average runtime for a single charger can be anywhere from 80 to nearly 180 minutes, but this could vary.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter. There are many components that need to be replaced or cleaned regularly, which can lead to high recurring expenses. However, it is a strong option for anyone looking to maintain high-pile carpets with a simple and hands-free method.

Irobot Roomba s9 is the best robot vacuum for low-pile carpet.

iRobot Roomba S9 High-Pile Carpet Stairs Robot Bagless Cordless Anti-Allergy Filter (HEPA) The best robot vacuum for low-pile carpet that we’ve tested is the iRobot Roomba S9. This top-of-the-line robot vacuum will easily remove pet hair and large particles such as sand. Fine debris such as baking soda can cause it to perform less well and take longer for the vacuum to clean everything. Its suction performance does not change as the dirt chamber fills. This is a great thing for dealing with bigger, more dispersed messes.

The vacuum feels great, and it has a sturdy rubber wheel to help it roll on hard floors. Its iAdapt3.0 navigation software plots more effective cleaning routes within its area. The companion app can be used to schedule and set up cleaning sessions in individual rooms or create virtual boundaries. This device can run for 50 minutes to more than 150 minutes, depending on its suction power, and how you use it.

There are many components that need to be cleaned or replaced regularly. The recurring cost is high. This vacuum can also be quite heavy making it hard to transport and pick up. This is our top-rated Roomba carpet vacuum.

Best Budget Robot Vacuum For Carpet: Roborock E4

Roborock E4 Carpet Stairs Robot Bagless Cordless (HEPA), The Roborock E4 was our best-seller in carpet vacuuming. The robot vacuum’s surface recognition feature allows it to adapt its suction power for different surfaces. This robot vacuum is able to clean pet hair off low and high-pile floors, although it will need to perform additional cleaning to clear large and small particles. It also has an onboard HEPA filter, which is great if you have a pet that sheds heavily.

The robot vacuum, despite its affordable price, feels impressively built with high-grade plastic construction. This robot vacuum can maneuver around rooms without being stuck to furniture. The size of the unit is also impressive. Your choice of setting will affect the time it takes to run, but you should expect between 110 and 200 minutes. That’s enough for most applications.

The Roborock S6 MaxV vacuum has more advanced capabilities, but this vacuum falls short. It doesn’t have a companion app that allows you to create virtual boundaries or set up cleaning times for particular rooms. It also has many parts that require regular cleaning, and incurs high recurring fees, as do most robotic vacuums. It’s still one of our favorite budget robot vacuums.

These are the Best Robotic Vacuums in 2021

Consumer Reports found that today’s most effective robovacs do not only appeal to geeks. When we link to retailers on our website, we might earn affiliate commissions. All fees collected are donated to our non-profit mission.

Is it getting tedious to vacuum and clean up dust, crumbs, and any other particles from your floors all the time? Your new best friend could be a robotic vacuum cleaner.

A robotic vacuum won’t replace your trusty upright or canister model, but they can be just the thing for hassle-free, daily floor maintenance. The CR lab tested numerous robotic vacuums. We are confident that the best machines will find a permanent home in your home. CR’s vacuum testers review how each robot vacuum handles surface dust on carpet and bare floor, can it reach tight corners, and how easily it cleans different types of rooms. Because many robot vacuums are connected to the Internet, experts assess the security and data privacy of every vacuum. (Data security examines whether robotic vacuums have encryption. Data privacy examines how manufacturers gather and use your personal data. Also, we use the results of our surveys to determine how satisfied members are with their robotic vacuums.

This list includes eight of the top performers from CR’s robotic vacuum test. Check out our ratings for robotic vacuums and other options.

It received a good rating in carpet cleaning tests and an excellent rating for bare floors. Although it is not the best cleaner (testers claim it can scatter debris), the unit does its job quietly and features a cliff sensor that prevents the machine from going down steps. The model doesn’t have WiFi connectivity, which means you cannot control it from your smartphone via an app. However, it is also not possible to hack. Our member survey gave Eufy robotic vacuums an Excellent score for reliability, and also a Very Good satisfaction score from owners.

Roomba I3+

Review by CR: The i3+ IRobot Roomba earned an excellent rating in our pet hair tests due to the rubber brush roll. It’s the biggest model and isn’t easily tripped by power cords. You will be impressed by the navigation and how quiet it is. It does have one drawback: you need to buy new vacuum bags for your base. But they’re not very expensive. Although the manufacturer has mixed results regarding data protection, they have a Very Good rating for data privacy and an Excellent rating in terms of data security. iRobot, to its credit is the only company that promises updates to fix security flaws and create a program for security researchers. A third selling point is that iRobot robotic vacuums are rated Very Good for their predictability and satisfaction.

Roomba I7+

CR’s view: The Roomba Roomba 7+, the top-of-the line Roomba vacuum cleaner, cleans floors effectively and quickly collects large amounts of debris in a single sweep. You don’t need to clean the bins yourself, as it will do the work automatically after it comes home. Smart technology means that you can use your smartphone to start cleaning or voice command Google Assistant or Alexa. However, our test subjects said that pet hair must be removed manually from the brush.

The vacuum is an excellent performer in the CR’s testing, scoring Excellent on both pet hair and bare floor tests. It uses smart-mapping technology to map and adjust to cleaning areas. iRobot guarantees that it will change the vacuum if it stops removing pet waste from its areas within a year. It is very easy to slide under or around furniture thanks to its excellent navigation. Roomba j7 falls short of an Excellent rating for data security. It also gets a good rating for data privacy, just like its other brand-mates.

Our Runner Up

We’ve tested pretty much every Roborock vacuum, from the humble E20 to the higher-end S6 MaxV . There have been improvements in their navigation and the user interface has become cleaner and more simple over the years. We recommend a middle-range Roborock like S4 Max which is currently being tested to give you the best value for money.

Wi-Fi-enabled S4 Max is equipped with many features that are not available in higher end robot vacuums. It is the best robot vacuum that does not get stuck on my kitchen floor. The battery lasts up to 3 hours, which is amazing. The dust bin is also slightly larger than average.

Which upgrade option do you prefer? Roborock just introduced the S7 recently, but it doesn’t seem to justify the extra cost. It has a multidirectional rubber roller, which is not as efficient as the S4 Max’s brush for lifting dirt off our carpet. You will need to keep following it and picking up smallish amounts of dog hair.

1. Irobot Roomba I7+

Amazon The j7+ robot vacuum is the newest of a line of iRobot vacuums. This high-end vacuum has powerful cleaning capabilities and smart connectivity.

The Roomba is controlled with the intuitive iRobot app as well as home assistants like Alexa and Google Home. You can either use the app or voice command to instruct the Roomba how to get started or set up automatic cleaning times while you are away.

Roomba has also introduced a major improvement in their technology with “PrecisionVision Navigation”. This lets the j7+ identify specific objects and avoid obstacles, such as pet waste (essential to owners) or charging cords.

Power and navigation are the real highlights of j7+. The robot will learn the layout of your home in real-time. It’ll also identify no-go spots and rooms. The robot’s powerful suction means that it will pick up all pet and human hairs left on hardwood floors or carpets.

The j7+’s only downside is its battery life. Although it can only be used for approximately 90 minutes, that’s not bad. However, the Roomba compensates by a clever “recharge & resume” function. The Roomba can recharge the roomba’s battery and return it to the dock when the juice runs out. But we can’t deny that iRobot pioneered the robot vacuum world with the Roomba, and it’s still the best option around.

7 Best Robot Vacuums Of 2021, According To Cleaning Experts

These vacs can tackle pet hair, hard floors, and carpeting alike.

Imagine it. Close your eyes. A simple appliance moving from one room to the next, doing all your chores. Robot vacuums make it possible, and you don’t even need to be rich to achieve this goal.

Today, there are many robovacs on the market. They have advanced a lot since the first model we tried in the Good Housekeeping Institute Cleaning Lab in 2002. In our Labs we test all kinds of vacuums: stick vacuums and canister vacuums as well as HEPA vacuums. We also tested vacuums that are per-hair.

The robots can be tested in an obstacle course that is two times larger than normal. We want to test their ability to transition between hard flooring and carpet. You can see if the vacuums get stuck and how quickly they maneuver around walls. It measures the amount of pet hair and dirt they remove from floors and carpet. Analysts also evaluate the interface, ease-of-use, sound, programming, noise, cleaning and emptying the dustbin. The best robot vacuums for 2020 are available.

Roborock S6 Maxiv

SHOP NOW! Ask any dog owner about the things they love. The list can seem endless. However, ask them about the things they dislike. Often, it comes down to pet hair on the carpet or poop accidents. Roborock S6 Max V can tackle these two issues. While initiating the app to control the robot, it asks if you have pets. This setting triggers the dual camera system to be on the lookout for small objects in its path, provided there is substantial contrast between the floor and the object. The S6 MaxV was able to avoid dark objects with no problems on light floors, however it had trouble recognizing the same object on dark wood floors and pushed it away. You must ensure that the object being avoided is not smaller than 2″ in diameter.

Robot vacuums can struggle with pet hair. But, by enabling carpet mode, it made it simple to collect fluff and embed dirt. As soon as the S6 MaxV recognized the carpet, its suction was adjusted accordingly.

S6 MaxV uses a straight-line approach to cleaning. It starts by cleaning around the perimeter of an area and then moves back and forth slowly but carefully across the entire space. Its low profile of just over three inches high zaps dirt in hard-to-reach places, and its single side brush takes care of corners. The robot maps and saves up to four maps to help you plan multi-level houses. You can also set no-go zones through the app to make sure the robot doesn’t go to those areas.

Vacuuming is complete. Use the S6MaxV to dry mop using plain water. You can adjust water flow through the app and wash the disposable mop cloth. It’s possible to prevent carpet from being mopped by using no-mop areas. But it is difficult to adjust the zone for an area rug. Your floor is protected by a moisture-resistant mat placed at the charging base.

Setting up cleaning schedules and selecting zones to be cleaned (or avoided) is done through the app – and you can also change the volume and voice of the robot. You can expect a very long cleaning time, with balanced mode, the robot will clean almost for two hours. As with all robot vacuums sensors keep it from falling down steps, however it’s better to create a virtual barrier.
