Walmart appears to be the dominant retailer worldwide, surpassing Amazon.

Back in 2012 , when some economic regulations relaxed a bit, Walmart did apply to the Indian government for permission to open some branded stores.
But it didn’t work out. Walmart was wise in entering India in this manner in 2018, “infiltrating” so to speak and setting up shop through the existing retail network.
