The Raspberry Pi is not renowned for outstanding audio quality (although it is more than decent enough for a number of applications in our experience!); luckily this was solved by several Raspberry Pi vendors making DACs. To use this, you would need to add an additional custom configuration variable named BALENA-HOST-CONFIG-dtoverlay with a hifiberry-dac value, one I have checked and like the Pimoroni PHAT DAC for both its small size and low price. The value might be different depending on the DAC, so be sure to search our documentation for the right value.

Connect your speakers

For attaching stuff like your freshly developed balenaSound kit, most Hi-Fi systems and powered speakers would have an auxiliary (AUX) input. You would need to make sure you have the correct cables in order to do this. A 3.5mm stereo audio jack is the audio source on the Raspberry Pi (and the PHAT DAC), and other AUX interfaces are either going to be the same or maybe more generally a phono/RCA input, those are the separate red and white connections. Therefore to operate with your system, you would require a cable. The collection of AmazonBasics is a good place to begin searching, without costing too much the cables are good quality.
